dropping first bike
DROPPED MINE ABOUT A WEEK AFTER I HAD IT
SHE WASENT EVEN RUNNIN WAS JUS TURNIN HER AROUND IN MY DRIVEWAY AND I WAS LEANING ONE WAY AND SHE WENT THE OTHER I THINK THE FULL TANK OF GAS MADE IT HARDER FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO HOLD IT UP
I USED ALL MY MIGHT AND BLEW A NUT BUT MANAGED TO JUS SET HER DOWN AS GENTLE AS POSSIBLE
THEN CAME THE EMBARRESING PART OF WALKING AROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE AND TRYING TO LIFT HER BACK UP
AFTER LOOKING AROUND TO SEE IF ANYONE SAW WHAT JUST HAPPENED
A LITTLE SCARTACH ON MY MIRROR FAIRING AND BAR END + PIPE!! IT SUCKED CAUSE IT WASENT EVEN RUNNING
THEY FEEL LIGHT AT HI SPEED AND EASY TO KEEP UP BUT WHEN THERE OFF AND NOT MOVING U THINK YR SAFER BUT SHE IS ACTUALLY ALOT MORE OF A HANDFUL STANDING STILL WHEN SHE LEANZ HARD
JUST BE CAREFUL AND WATCH OUT FOR CRZY CAGERS ON THE ROAD GRAVEL ETC RAIN ROAD LINES AND COCKINESS
PEACE OUT IM OFF TO LAKE TITI KAKA

I agree that there are many reasons and one main one is footing. You'll find yourself stopped and at some point, you just will drop the bike. My first time was with my 250, I was about to make a turn and was on a slight incline and toppled over. Luckily I caught the bike and didn't do a thing to it, except scratch the mirror and clutch lever. When I got the 6, somewhat similar instance, but I didn't have sliders, and couldn't catch the bike and scratched some parts. Then I went to the other side. So I've dropped both my bikes a total of 3 times based on footing. I got cut off by a car and went down hard...everything was replaced and additions were made. Since then, I've bought bigger riding boots and haven't dropped the bike. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!
Dropped mine a few times in about five months of riding. First time i was riding my bike through my yard learning how to get the feel of it, i do not recommend this and the grass was a bit wet. Put too much gas then tried to brake and it went down. Broke a mirror and my pride. Next time i was puling into a a driveway and got into some mud, too much weight to one side and went down again. I was practicing to take my test with the cones and i did it again. Main reason this happens is i have a 99 cbr 600 and i'm 5'5 and weigh 140 lbs. Needless to say this is a big bike for me, my feet barely touch the ground at the moment.
I will tell you this, there is not a day that some moron does not pull out in front of me, usually it happens twice, especially at college in the parking lots. Always havfe your feet where you can downshift/hit the brake and your hands where they should be. Be careful, what you dont think will happen usually will.

my first time was at a gas station i pulled up seen 2 girls went to kick my stand down all cool and didnt put it down properly so the bike went down. and i looked like an idiot 10 years later my secoond accidnt was at 170 kilometers around a ramp hit gravel and slid. third acident 2 weeks after that i was doing a wheelie a road repair truck came around the corner and i side swiped him lol that hurt. so there is my stories all summed up main lesson is if u fall get back up and try try again and learn form each accident
ok it just happend, i broke my clutch cable so i had to pop start it and ride home in 1st gear.. now, when u try and stop with no clutch, the back tires locks up, well i pull into my front yard at about 10 mph and try and shut it off and the tire locks up and down she goes in the grass!!! all is well.. no damage just hurt my pride!!!!!!! cya
i got into some sand in a turn and lost the bike. it came out from under me and that is all i remember 4 hours later i woke up in the hospital no broken bones but i was hurting . only had the bike for 1 hour did not even get a mile to much damage to list it just sucked.
i was going about 80 MPH on my first bike (cbr600 F2) when i blew out my rear tire. bike went down. when i woke up there was a sheet over me, and my leg hurt really bad. people at the scene thought i was dead so they put a sheet over me LOL freaked them out when i sat up. but 2 knee surgeries later i am still ridin' and still on the back wheel everywhere i go.
I first started out on my hubby's first bike about six years ago, ex500, i think the first time i went down was the most embarassing, i was on a dead end street just going up and down the hill getting a feel for the bike, i was wearin a tank top, no helmet.. and a bee landed on my arm and i did one of those split reactions took my hand off the bar to brush it off my shoulder taking all my attention away from the bike and just kinda got unbalanced and let it down gently, my hubby still hasn't let that one go.
The next time was also on his bike, i used to live on a huge hill and was afraid to take the bike outta my pot hole filled driveway, i was okay going up for some reason, but i was afraid to go down so the first time i tried i got nervous and jerked the wheel a little to much and went down, thankfully that time i had my helmet on cuz i slammed my head on the pavement, but not really any damage done.
After I bought my first bike, also an ex500, my hubby and i went up to dmv to take my bike test for my lic., but it had been raining earlier that day so the track was wet and they decided to cancel last minute. On our way back we got stopped at a red light where we were taking a left and when the light turned green we both started to go and my hubby was behind me, i put my blinker on last min to take a quick right up a real steep driveway to go into a gas station and my hubby didn't know i was gonna do that and he gunned it and i saw him not turning and i lost balance and went down and he dumped his to keep from hitting me, but i think we ended up colliding slightly anyway. I landed on the left side and the right footpeg sliced through my right knee, didn't even notice it till i couldn't stand up, i was more concerned about the bike, which was fine. i couldn't ride for six weeks. MORAL of this story is to wear your gear, especially when ur first starting! i was wearing shorts and a tank top that day and can't help but wonder if the foot peg would have done quite as much damage if i had been wearing jeans or riding gear.
I also dumped it a couple times practicing the cones for the dmv test trying to lean to much.
