Default CBR 600f. 2008.

Hi everyone, I need help asap.
when I start the bike and let it warm as normal, 5 mins, obviously it's in neutral to start.
When I then pull in the clutch and tap the selector down for first, it just stalls and cuts out.
I can see the cable pulling when I squeeze the lever, but I'm confused about what it could be, it was fine last week. The oil light shows but then goes off when the engine starts, I think that's normal. Does anyone have any ideas??
Thanks in advance. Dave

You don't happen to have the kickstand down when you are doing this do you?

Hi thanks for your time, it is down yes,
Yes the kickstand is down,
is that a safety feature? If yes I never knew that.
Is that the reason for it stalling?

That's it. There's a safety switch that is in place to prevent you from putting it in gear accidently while you are parked. It's working as it should if the bike works fine with the kickstand up.
