You could always just make the point of safety.

Say something along the lines of, "Honey, don't you want me to have as safe of bike as possible?!" At this point she'll either say 'Yes' or 'If you want safe buy a car'. If she says yes then glide the point in on how you should just lease an 09 RR. If she brings up the point about just buying a car, tell her that when you crash because your fork disintegrated in to dust when you hit a bump all you're going to say is, "I told you so." and sign those lease papers.

You can buy a 5 pack for 45 bucks. Just sign up. It isn't a long term deal. Just pay as you go. https://secure.carfax.com/creditCard.cfx

Tough call here. $1800 is high for a F3 that's definitely been down and unknown history. You don't want to spend that kind of money and then have to hear it from wifey when you're spending as much time fixing things (for more money) as you are riding. Women invented "I told you so" and mastered the art of Smug.

At the same time, I think we can all see you want a bike BAD. Ask the mechanic for a detailed report of exactly what he did to the bike. He's got some accounting to do to come up with that asking price.

Here in Nova scotia you can hardly buy a 600 that runs for $1800. any sportbike worth stopping to look at reguardless of the year or shape is going to be at least $2500

I did a craigs list search as well as eBay within 150 miles or Mobile and found alot of nice bikes for your price range. Be patent you will find a nicer one in your price range. And house hit the nail on the head. I was simply making observations that she had been abused too much for 1800

Yeah, that's pretty common in a lot of countries so I'm told. Not so much here in the US, tho. I've come across some dam nice bikes in the $2k range this season. Patience is key, but it won't take that long.

I took all of your advice as hard as that was... Yeah I have the fever! Went to my bank I've had for 7+ years and had the loan for my s2000 through and filled out an app. Told em I'd need about 4k. If that goes through I'll have many many more options.

I can't find any "nice" bikes in my price range on Craig or eBay now... My current price range is 2k... If I get the loan I could get a much newer nicer bike

I know what it's like to just want to get something.
(I was way worse when I was younger, although my wife may disagree... )

But it's really best to wait until you find one that you just KNOW is it. Ya know, you'll get a real good feeling about it. (Kinda like women... LOL)

Yeah! I have been that way forever... my wife hates it... If I fixate on something I obsess about it until I have it. Haha. Was kinda that way about her too!

I've seen a few more on Craigs and eBay but they are a bit out of my price range... saw a 2003600RR that the guy wants 4100 for, but Nada says its worth 2800 for that year. It has 17k miles on it. I'd still need the bank loan...

For ***** and giggles, a friend and I went to the Honda Bike dealer here where we live, and my credit wasn't good enough to get a loan from Honda. Looked at a 2009 600RR. For some reason, when they pulled my credit, the 3.5 years I made payments on my S2000 didn't show up, but another dealership we went to afterwards, my S2000 DID show up... I am confused...

They checked different credit bureaus.
