Buying a Bike, Opinions Please!
Hey guys!!! Went and saw a bike, and test drove it today. I have never in my life driven one, so I took it on a deserted road with zero traffic, or turn offs.
Went through the gears, didn't stall, didn't fall, I am in a great mood!!!
Its a 1998 CBR600F3. Its kinda ugly, as someone tried to repaint it... looks like it WAS red, and someone rattlecanned it black... It ran smooth, I guess... Took a lot of pictures, KBB says its worth $2300, and I'm getting it for 18 tomorrow, what do you guys think?

1800 for THAT bike, I say is TOO MUCH. It needs ALOT of work, seat is torn, paint rear tail light is broken, chain is filthy, pipe looks like crap, looks like it has been down a time or two. From the look of everything I wouldn't think maintenance was a high priority on this bike. I'd pass and keep on looking. Be patent I know you have the itch and want a bike. But 600s are everywhere wait for one that has been taken care of, and looks good too.

Yeah I was worried about that too, but I will probably drop this bike a few more times : \
I plan on doing the RR fairings swap in about 6 months... I don't think the taillight was broken...
It has brand new brakes and brake lines on it. New tires... How much would a new chain cost anyway?

I would also pass on this one. Take your time picking a bike out. No sense of spending this kind of money on something you ended up "settling" for. Buy something that really gets you pumped up.
When I was looking for a bike I considered getting a beater like that one too. It seemed like a good idea because I really wanted to get on a bike and I had the cash for it. But I realized that I was probably buying someone's problem. So I saved up some more cash and bought my 05 600RR.
I'm not trying to tell you how to spend your money, but I would definitely think about waiting, shelling out the extra cash and getting something nicer.

Well I can't really spend more than this anyway... Wife wont let me... No matter what, for this kind of price, I'm going to find a rather crappy bike...
The guy told me mechanically its in good shape... he's a mechanic, so I naturally don't trust him... and it does have some aesthetic issues... Wife is actually pissed im spending 1800... she'd rather I find one even cheaper! If I had my way, I'd lease/loan a 2009 CBR600RR, and eventually probably lay it down, and just fix it... but Wife says no go.
