Born again rider
I rode dirtbikes/three wheelers in high school and had a sweet Yamaha XJ600 for a year out in cali when I was 23. Twelve years have passed since I have even touched a bike and I have a question. I am getting an amazing deal on a solid '02 CBR600 F4i but I am getting worried that this may be too much to start on again. I am very cautious and already had my first motorcycle accident. And I'm taking the MSC for the first time next month. Am I thinking too big with the CBR, or am I just scared from all the posts that say don't start out on a sportbike? Anyone else have difficulty getting abck into it? thanks....
Thanks. I will take is easy until I become familiar with the bike and my skills. I guess I just needed to know it wasn't impossible to jump back on a CBR. Know all I have to do is figure out this counter steering voodoo?
Welcome to the board!!! Keep it under 7K rpms and it'll be a ***** cat -- crank on the throttle and you could be in for a wild ride. For probably 90+% of us these bikes engines will write checks our skills can't cash so you gotta exercise some restraint. From your post it sounds as if you already know this ... I just like to type[8D]
Hey B... Welcome and welcome back !!!!!!!!! You'll be fine... discretion, the better part of valor, eh??? good "get'n back in "attitude.
I read everything to do w/ tech and technique, I can find... i'm a better rider 'cause of a msf course, years ago. probobly the most important thing, was to be teachable. That counter steering thing is simple and you'll find it a joy to embrace, as it really is the hot set up, and easy w/ practice.
Have fun, don't feel pressured by fellow riders, and learn all you can. This forum, is fantastic too !!!!!!!!!!!! Clean and free, Ripp'n
