99 blade front wheel spacers
Hi guys /girls.
Having a mid life crisis as the wife has said but getting back into biking after many years away.
bought a UK 1999 cbr900rr a while back from a guy that gave up on fixing her.
I have done a bit of work to get her semi built . It was in a thousand pieces when I got her.
the front forks were on her but were the wrong way round. Left on right and visa versa.
my problem is that the front axle was in ,but no spacers, I do have them but no idea which one goes to which side.
one has a approx 5mm collar on it.
looking at the front to back of bike which one goes to which side and what orientation for the collared one.
I did have a quick try looking at a parts list online which showed the longer spacer on the left (kill switch side) but the wheel was out of alignment near touching the stanchions.
any help would be appreciated, pics even better .
I'm sure I will have heaps more questions as I work my way through getting her restored.
Tia, Matt

Welcome to the forum Matty!
Kind of surprised no one has replied yet! Maybe post a pic or two of the spacers and how the wheel looks with them in according to the 'parts' diagram?
Edit: Just took a look here - https://www.chapmoto.com/oem/honda/c...ssembly=393033
Are you referring to parts #4 & 5? If so, then the longer one (#4) should be on the right side, not the left. Except you mention that you tried it on the kill switch side which, at least here in the states, is typically on the right side...

Hi Doc Samson.
Thanks for that. i have literally just a few minutes ago figured it out.
the old owner had the wheels powder coated and marked with crayon the direction of the front wheel and tyre. he had marked the direction wrong and put the tire on the wrong way.
once i sorted that the wheel went on no problem and lined up.
My main problem now is the front axle the threads in the axle and bolt are stripped. so got to try look for another now. (hens Teeth ) lol.

Oy vey! Some people should not be allowed within arm's length of a bike... lol!
As for the stripped threads, perhaps a machine shop would be able to restore them with a tap/die?

agreed the last owner should have stayed away from trying to restore it. but then again i got it for just a few hundred £pound.
i have seen a front axle in Florida on Ebay i can pick up if i cant get anyone with a tap and die big enough. mine are just a fraction too small.
but unfortunately i cant see me getting it on the road t his year. im finding bits all over missing, could really do with a donor blade lol.
today wheel sorted, new discs and pads, stripped / rebuilt front callipers and painted them. got new HT leads, coils, carb rebuild kit, plugs, battery, service kit and a few other bits to keep me going for a while.
