I think it just depends on her and what she's comfortable with. My very first bike is an '06 F4i - brand new off the lot.

Make sure she takes the MSF course though!! And you can never emphasize the need to ride with full gear enough either!!

I agree with the everything the class helped me ot alot, never wrode a bike before, i took the course and passed it, know i,m riding everyday slow and dont care what people say on the road they can go around me, but its fun good luck on your friend.
