Bikes, ships and cars are girls because they are expensive, unpredictable, expensive
willful, expensive, and don't like to be dirty (at least most of 'em) and don't forget expensive

Hi peoples,
I have a question that I'm hoping someone can answer.
I read this forum every day and I have started to notice that everyone thinks of their bike as female, mine being "The Pink Lady". Can anyone explain why we all seem to think of something that can go so fast, eat road miles and possibly kill us if we don't concentrate as female?
All the bikes I have ever owned have been female, even a 1979 Triumph Bonneville which did nearly kill me. This thing only had quarter bafels in it, was loud as hell but was female.
Any thoughts?

because they are things of beauty ... ridden hard....rarely taken care of as they should be... and have the lines that drive men wild with power they can't control.
