Smile Triple bypass

To any kiwi members TK & JK are planning a trip to the Burt Munroe Rally at the end of November this year. The plan to date is for the N.I. contingent (at this stage JK LK(my son) and Joe B(Hyabusa mate) to cross the strait on ferry Tues 22 Nov and meet up with TK at Reefton that night.Wed 23 cross over Lewis Pass to North Canterbury down towards Chch then back over Porters/Arthurs Pass to West Coast and down to Franz Josef where our sister runs a motel. Next day will be down the coast to Haast and over Haast Pass and down the lakes to Wanaka where I believe TK lives.Friday carry on south via Crown Range to Invercargill for the beach racing and weekend of the rally.Monday head back north either via Catlins Coast or up through the centre to Wanaka.Tues up through the Central Otago /Mckenzie country (Lindis Pass/Pukaki/Tekapo)to somewhere like Rangiora and then Wednesday back up to Picton for the 1800 sailing via either inland Kaikoura or back over Lewis Pass and Nelson or St Arnaud & Wairau Valley. Anyone interested in this ride please get in touch and we will co-ordinate as the time gets closer

The "Triple Bypass Tour" is both a nod to our to our age, and the fact that we'll cross the Alps a minimum of three times (four in my case). If you're a Kiwi and thinking about doing the Bert Munroe it might be a bit of fun to hook up.

Speaking with TK earlier and we would appreciate any suggestions as to what sort of recording devices (video cams mini cams etc) that we should be looking out for to record some of the "pass" sections of the ride so that all of you will want to come and join us in NZ for our awsome roads. This is bearing in mind that the "pass" sections are at least 45-60 min duration and we will probably need to take a laptop with us to download to a mem stick each night so we can keep you all informed

Hey TK Thanks for the heads up. I will check out my diary (read 'the wife') and the maps. I shall put the word out to a few of the boys around here I ride/work with who are all 'dab' hands at tours and beveridge comparison experts (especially the 'ole coot' on the Beemer, he's just finished the southern cross tour a month or so back) and lastly my bro in Chch aboard his cross eyed italian bike..hehe.

I'll keep an eye out for your details later to the time as to what the goss is.

As for the recording devices, I'll ask the 'ole coot' what he is using, as he showed us his southern cross tour vid's. He down loads to a note book each day. Picture quality & sound seems to be pretty good

Cheers Andy

Ok, so Tuesday nite this is probably the go

The Old Breadshop Backpackers @ Reefton

Wed nite is Glacier View Motel in Franz (kiwi JK and I sister and her hubby run it) so it would be a bit rude to go there without getting some free accomodation from her .

Thurs is probably mine in Wanaka but that's a bit number dependant. There is a accom. complex straight across the street from me (as well as a bar less than one minutes walk from my front door) so I guess we can kinda work round that.

Invercargill I'll leave to JK to sort.

cheers
TK

Hey Ruaphu I presume that "The old coot on a BMW" is Tim the Toolman Taylor if so he is sorta related to us.His older brother is married to our older sister.Gotta admit that his workshop at home is a bit of an inspiration to anyone who wants to be able to do anything themselves.

hehe, nah it's a mate at work -(Murray B), one of those very rare 'good bastards' that rides hard, talks loud, nothing but whiskey and works even darn harder than most people I know for an ole coot. Complete with man sheds (note plural) to die for, that sort of leave ya a bit speechless for twenty minutes or so cos of tool & toy envy overload lol.

Muz is a bit of an icon having been there done that business and pleasure wise. Most people I have met know Muz one way or another. He's also BMW through and through having had most models from 1980 onward, currently punts a K1200 LT around like a sports bike.
