track days
now i own a decent bike , i was thinking of trying a track day ride . I'm after some advice , should i also combine this first track day with an advance riding course or would i the riding course be more useful after my first outing ??
Hey:
It depends on a few details. They can compliment each other very well. If the combined price is cheaper then by all means take advantage of it, if you want or plan on doing both anyways. The Advanced rider course prepares you for the road and helps keep you a safer rider showing avoidance tecniques, steering tecniques, how to handle your bike, and clues you in on what to watch out for further down the road. They are normally geared for the rider/pilot and gives you info to make you a smarter more informed rider and then demonstrates how it works in application, if its anything like the MSF advance rider course I used to teach.
The track day demonstrates to you how far your bike can be pushed in conditions that are safe for you to do so. You have a 1st time track day course at most of the courses I have seen that gets you comfortable with riding in a group and has limits on passing and course speed but very informative overall on picking lines, proper braking, and pushing lean angles. This brings you closer with your bike and what it can and cannot do.
I hope this is accurate for your location and you have a fun and enjoyable learning experience. Good Luck

Check well in advance what the requirements are regarding your gear and your bike. For a track day leathers will probably be required, one piece or two piece with a full length connecting zip also your helmet may need to be the double 'D' type fastener.
Try posting up on this section dedicated to track days, these guys can advise you on what you'll need.
