An interesting preposition there Seb.
Given that it's Christmas, I get to decide which present I would like best.
Sadly, given my age and wisdom; my head is telling me to go for the Duke.
In spite of their prodigious appetite for parts and specialized servicing; I suspect it would still be cheaper to run than the three gigglers.
And, in another 20 years time, which will have retained the original look better?

The ONLY bike I still lust after nearly 30 years after my first ride on one.

I wouldn't swap Mrs SB for one, but I could use her for a trade in on it

Now, right there encapsulates all the reasons Dukes are just wrong.
Gear shift - wrong side.
Chain drive - wrong side.
Single front disc - wrong side.
And those carbs, no intake protection. They could very easily suck in a curious small boy, or a puppy.
That is just a serious Health and Safety risk. I'd be very surprised if you could even get to the end of your street without some Jobsworth in a high viz and a clipboard turning up and ordering you off the road.
Speaking of which; I reckon we only have a couple of more shots at this before the big guy turns up.
Xmas cheer my friends.
