Everybody has made some great responses to this thread. Much appreciated

To me, more and more of our time is spent being "alerted" to much more needless info than we need to be exposed to. I've never owned a smart phone and a year ago gave up my cell phone altogether. My social media is limited to this space, though I've been mostly absent. I still sit down to a laptop to post anything. To be honest, I feel liberated by choosing not to being tied to technology.

Most of us are old enough to remember what life was like before devices ruled our time. It's nice to live the old way. I understand that people need those things in the course of their business, but if you're the one blocking the aisle in the supermarket with your shopping cart while you stand there texting, I'll give that cart a purposeful nudge and sometimes an overt ramming to bring you back to reality and I won't apologize for doing so.

Call me a Luddite (where have I heard that term that before?) but I'm fine with it. We live in a single wide in the woods and have slowed life down to comfortable pace. Much less stress and more time just breathing fresh air and dodging raindrops

All well asserted comments. We grow less younger every year. Our lives get complicated with family affairs, as they grown into maturity. Our bike are becoming so rare, but every time mine goes out it wow's people.
I am also a "Luddite" too, don't do social media at all, but check every other day for new posts here. At 57.5 I have been around many forums and the drama kills it for me or lack of respect, not in here. I have been here on and off, but have the pride (not bragging) of saying, I was partly responsible of getting the sub-forum for the Hurricane way back when. Look at my joining date. It get joy of seeing what it has evolved to.
I thank all of you, because collectively, there is more knowledge about our bikes. The contributors in the DIY to make someones life easier. The help in finding parts or alternatives and the ingenuity on tasteful mods. This much wealth of knowledge has no price. Thank you all.

If my math is correct you were 44.5 when you pushed for the sub-forum. You were a young man full of pi$$ and vinegar back then.

You don't have to dig to deep if you go to What have you done to your CBR 1000f today? pg. 281-284.
Full of pi$$and vinegar again he is.

Red Baron, you're gonna like the stick coil mod (from the thread mentioned above). And, don't thank us, we thank you. If it weren't for the 1kF section and the de-link info, the bike would have been gone years ago. I'd have over 100k miles on it now if it weren't for my other bikes needing attention.

A friend of mine gave me '79 cx500 I'm gonna cafe. Got sticks for it already and was working on other things but now you got me thinking about shifting back to the bike for a few hours. Gotta have priorities in line. LOL

This is about it for social media for me other than sitting at a pub with a cold one every now and then.

Also Woofer, how did you make out with the charging problem? I don't remember a fix posted.

Default Funny How Things Get Forgotten

Today is January 27, tomorrow is January 28, Sunday, I will be 64. I have been following this forum as a CBR1000F owner for about 12 years now. Seems like there used to be much more things to talk about with the owners of these bikes
but maybe it is just me. Not sure if anyone actually figured out how many of these bikes were sold world wide. Obviously they were much more popular in Australia it seems by the number of down under owners on here. I know that in the States there were not many sold and I don't think I have ever seen one within 500 miles of me here in Las Vegas. This town averages I would say at least 1 or 2 riders per month killed on roads here. Impaired cagers here are the rule rather than the exception, and generally there seems to be an incredibly common amount of agression and rage in drivers as of late. The most aggressive and dangerous drivers on the road are men between the ages of 25-40 driving high performance 4 x 4 sport trucks. These individuals think that everyone on the road should get out of their way, and if not they are ready to do who knows what??? Anyways off that subject. I hope that whoever folks on here who are still owners of the CBR1000F will continue to keep things going. Here' a funny example of why things may be getting past us without realizing. I went into a local Honda Kawi Yama Suzi dealer the other day to get a replacement shifter pedal rubber. A young man at the parts counter came over to help me and I gave him the year and the model number. He looked for a minute or two at the parts fische screen and then said, "Is that 95 bike the old Gold Wing". When I explained further it was obvious that no one in there had knowledge of the Hurricane, let alone the chance of ever having seen one. I did notice that Kawi has now found some way to resurrect a new version of the Z900 "Retro Version" I think this evidence supports
my old theory that if you can't figure out how to make something new and totally great , then just go ahead and make something not so new better than before. In either case, your chance for success is increased. That's All for now.

+1 on the 4x4's. Those 35" mud gobbber tires throw up a spray when on the interstate in the rain. Even in a car I avoid them. Doing the 70mph speed limit doesn't keep them from tailgating.

Just got home from Australia Day camping, very crook, my 4x4 only has 33" muddies and a little diesel engine and doesn't intimidate anyone. 70mph would leave me well and truly behind.

This and ebay are my only interaction with computers and I only got a mobile phone after buying my CBR in case it ever broke down because of it's age and oil consumption....I need not of bothered, never left me stranded or let me down, can't say the same about the phone.

Hope you mend quickly Jarvid.

I can sympathise with the old 4x4. My 1985 3B (3.4 litre) Diesel mid-wheel base Landcruiser is very wheezy at anything above 90km/h. Still I love her though, taken me all over Australia and she's just gone onto Historic Registration here in SA. $200 for 3 years! .

Cheers, SB

Nice, sounds a lot better than my $550 odd for 12 months for each of my 3 modes of transport.....and don't get me started on the boat with their compulsory wearing of PFD rules.
