Interesting, very interesting

Yeah, and while you are at it, could you shed some light on the Toilet Turbine?
Should I buy stock in this thing or pass it up??????
Could this thing damage a certain body part?
It seams that out resident expert is playing favoritism when I get shunned like this.LOL
Oh man, am I getting pissed!!!!!!

Hey Tim , sorry man I wasn't actually ignoring yu .... I got a bit side tracked by the other little **** hangin reply's
That toilet turbine as it said, is able to be used in quite a few different applications using the same hydro power methodology ...
Don't think your **** would be at risk mate , as it is located in the discharge pipe work quite a safe distance from even your hanging parts ...lolol
I have gone right into all types of power generation including small hydro plants to use in creeks and rivers ect as we actually live off the grid (no power at all from out side sources)
Om not too sure if you would be generating any measurable or lets say worthwhile amount of power from that thing ...
Power generation is a weird beast full stop mate ....The laws of physics tend to determine if the generator is really feasible or worth while ...
It takes quite a bit of energy from the source plus size in generating equipment to make a usable amount of power ...
Small 12 - 24 volt systems can be usful , but are restricted by the Amperage that most little generators can produce .... They are or can be good for 12 v lighting or charging a very small battery bank ect ect... but mate , that little fella in your toilet pipping ain't gunna generate much at all really ...
Cost of the generating equipment it self also soon rears its ugly head ...
Solar for eg/ is really good , but the cost to setup and install it makes it quite non cost effective really until you have been using it for many years to recover some of the outlay ...
A little generator like the toilet one prolly wont cost too much mate , but whether it will return any cost savings is debatable ...?
Allot of peeps like myself , tend to go with the saving of the planet resources attitude ... that way it makes me feel better when I go and spend a ton of cash on our stand alone energy system here ...

What are you using for power to get off the grid, a water hammer?

Hey Steve, I wasn't meaning to be a little ****, I was genuinely interested and apprecriated your reply on jet turbines, but couldn't resist a bit of ribbing on the way through.
Had a look at the toilet turbine article, ran it past Mission Control, I think she just about wet herself when she saw this
"your bowel movements could one day save the planet."
Apparently that is not an option for me, she seems to think what I actually need is a discharge permit from the local authority.
Women genuinely have no appreciation for some of my more advanced skills.

We have around 15 outside and inside stand alone solar lights scattered around the place as well that have there own little panels to keep them going ..
The solar is cost effective if you look at it over about a ten year period ..
Because we had a little setup here when we bought the place and I only had to add to it ,combined with the fact that I install all my own gear , our cost effectiveness is way higher .. prolly 3-4 years and we will be running totally free power from solar ...
As nearly all off the grid home do , we also have a 7KW diesel main backup generator , a 7KW petrol one to back it up and a little 3.5KW petrol portable generator for working power around the farm ..
We are looking into a half KW wind gen ATM too , but I have to rob a few more banks before I can afford to throw one of them up ... LOLOL
We have spent allot of time looking into rather whackie methods of generating power , but most run into the laws of physics and issues and limits as to what they can put out make them not really worth the trouble ..
FYI.....
We have no power connected to the property
No mains water
No land line cable (phone ect )
No mains gas
We run an LPG bottle to power our 2 instantaneous HWS's ...moblie phones, Satellite internet (which the Government provides for FREE here !! )powered from the solar and that's it.
BTW ...Hey Tk ...thats kool ... I new you was just stirring me up mate
