Default Go Fish - !

So a good few of us Fish - I know Seb & Woof have been at it as I have myself - thought I'd start a thread on Fish Trips - feel free to add any

Here's one of mine from last Saturday out of Newburyport out to Jeffries
ledge - Cod - Haddock - Pollock and Cusk in the Cooler.

T'was a good day - enough Fish for everybody to have 5 or 6 good dinners out of.

A few Pics to illustrate

Heading out of Newburyport @ 5am

Anti Social Motley Crew

Capt Glenn of the FV "Good NuFF" sorting the strings of the catch

Haddock Cod Pollock Cusk

Divvyin' up the spoils / Capt with the filleting knife on the go, reckon we took maybe 120lbs between 5 Guys and the Capt's Missus and
first mate "Kate"

Nicely done Sprock! I'll have to wait until Mrs SB gets home with the pictures of the last day's catch on her camera.

We spent 3 days at the bottom of Yorke Peninsula rock fishing for Salmon and Tommy Ruff - we did get some Leatherjackets, and a few good sized Sweep. A couple of hours fishing Saturday afternoon gave a great feed that night and then two more days fishing gave a few feeds for later.

Saw a fair sized school of Salmon but they rushed past us twice without feeding! Dodge tide perhaps?

It was however a great three days spent with my delightful partner without nary a 'phone or computer or newspaper or people within cooee.

I didn't take a picture of the beautiful coastline so borrowed this from elsewhere. Butler's Beach. We fished around at Gartrell's Rocks.

The campsite at dawn looking inland on Sunday.

The catch from Monday morning.

Cheers, SB

Default Can't take credit for this one

But, I must say, I was mightily impressed when I saw it on a doco last night.

The last sturgeon caught in Britain's River Trent.

Back in 1902, and weighing in at a portly 250 lb.

That does seem a reasonably high breaking strain line looped around his arm.

What does sturgeon actually taste like? Was it worth catching?

The striped ones to the left in the picture are the Tommy Ruff, and I do enjoy those grilled. Very much.

And that Sturgeon is Fecking huge TK! Give me the caviar though and throw the fish back

Cheers, SB

"The one that got away"

New Saloon sticky

Who's in?

If the Sturgeon is no taller then Seb, in Washington, you can keep her. Anything larger is maturing to breeding age. They're slow to mature and are at risk for over-harvesting just for the roe

"The one that got away" was a rough draft. I like "Go-Fish".

Howzabout,

"Catch of the Day"?

@ Seb. Pics of my fish? You'll get 'em. Expect no more than pan-sized rainbows until the salmon runs hit the Sound. I'm catching something that resembles over-sized herring right now. Though they're tasty little buggers.

Anyone care to share recipes?

Great pics of some ocean fishing from you guys. Thawing a kilo of coastal razor clam right now.

Chawdah' for tamarrah's suppah', in an approximation of the the Maine vernacular.

@ Sprock. How does one meld an Irish accent with a coastal Maine one? Has to be interesting to hear
