Not exactly

I think Shadow has already dubbed me a Philistine for using bait

As long as grenades weren't in the equation Woof, it's all fair in fishing. I've used lures, bait, flys, spears and nets.

And love eating the fish I catch.

They look very yummy. I hope you and Mrs Woof enjoy(ed?) them.

Cheers, SB

Butterflied and coated with crushed Milton's corn meal crackers. Seasoned with salt and pepper, then pan-fried in butter (a little bit of some reserved bacon fat does well here). De-glaze the pan with white wine, reduce and then add more butter and finely sliced scallions to drizzle over the fish with a gentle squeeze of lemon. Serve with roasted new potatoes and a home-made aioli. Cider of your choice is the suggested quaff

It was good

Beautiful day out there on the water there, Sprock. How's the super-moon on the east coast?

Hey Woof I only called you a Philistine for using bait if you're fishing purely for sport..........
Gezz, if it's for feeding the family I'm not above 1/4 stick of dynamite or a little blob of C4. and a scoop net.
Worms are quieter though................and there's less chance of getting arrested.

I used spinners to catch trout up in the mountains of Lesotho. Used single hooks with the barbs flattened. The fly fishermen were horrified............but I caught 6 fish to their one................

No offense taken, Shadow.

I was more amused than offended. Fly fishing was a huge fad here ever since the movie "A River Runs Through It" came out.

I find it ironic how the neophyte fly-fishermen looked down their noses at me in the same manner the neophyte Harley riders treat me for riding a Honda.

The fad has faded. Only the dedicated fly-anglers hold on and they have the rivers mostly to themselves again.

The fad fisherman here has traded in his waders for these new-fangled specialized fishing kayaks. Complete with pedal drive, live wells, rod holders, fish-finders and GPS. I saw an entire club, probably 25-30 of them, out on the lake last Saturday. What's wrong with a simple canoe?
