I shouldn't tell this with children in the room, and it probably should go on another thread, but way back when......
My friends and I had just turned 18. That meant we could drive through the Country Club Plaza (outdoor shopping from the 30's that has now become all the rage again) in Kansas City and across the state line to Kansas City, Kansas which was a "dry" state that sold 3.2% beer. We'd go to Shakey's Pizza and stuff ourselves and drink pitchers of the kiddie beer.
Then on the way back through the Plaza, nothing but uncontrolled intersections, I would stand up on the seat of my beloved 350 Honda CL and hold my arms out to the sides. We had no throttle locks so I had to get it up to about 45 mph and then I would stand up quickly and ride it until it got wobbly at about 25 and the jump down on the seat like Roy Rogers.
Now the only reason I thought of this is that my dad told me he used to "ride through the middle of town" standing up on his Indian with his arms folded. So I had to try too.
Now if my kid reads this, I'm in trouble.
