Default Installing H-4 Bulbs

(1) Flatten the upper tab at 12 o-clock with pliers to widen it. The old bulb is a little wider.
(2) Push the two **** at 6 o-clock back flat against the body with pliers.
(3) Cut a piece of wire coat hanger the width of the body diameter and place it behind the body at 6 o-clock and bend the tabs at 4 o-clock and 7 o-clock back with pliers locking the wire in place.

Default So, is that it?

I mean, is there any other changes, relays needed, or is this just plug and play. What I'm wondering is if the H4 bulbs draw the same amount of current as the stock bulbs. Or, do you have to make sure you get H4 bulbs with the same Watt rating, if there are different ones available???

And, for those who have done this, is it a notable improvement in the amount of light output compared to stock?

Sorry if this is a silly question...

Hey, I remember this thread.

I can't believe I didn't post "Nice one, TBT".

So I'm doing it now.

Very nice, TBT.

The factory bulb has a "P43T" base. You can't just walk into any automotive store and get one and if you find them they are most likely 60w/55w. You can however get bulbs in "H-4" base in any store. There are plenty to pick from and have a wider verity of wattage. This is a way to adapt the "H-4" based bulb to the "P43T" reciprocal in the bike. It is plug and play after that.

Default ZxE silverstar

The ZxE silverstar bulb that I got from a auto store is amazingly white and bright. White lines on the road are very white now haha. Had to modify the "tit" to get them to fit but that's all. Worth the extra money.

I had tried silver stars on another bike and was out off by the brightness of the reflective road signs.
Proved to be more of a distraction than the benifit of a little further cast.

I find the stock headlight setup on the CBR1000F quite good! Best headlight of any bike I've ever ridden.

I used this similar adapter years ago. H4 Bulb Adapter Rings Honda CBR900RR CBR 900RR RR CBR1000F 1000F Hurricane | eBay. You cut off the H4 lower tabs and place this adapter on the bulb so it fits. The truth is, once you cut off the lower tabs and place the bulb in the Honda socket, the springy thing is so strong it holds the bulb in place, even without an adapter.
