wont start w/o starting fluid
like it says. i crashed 3 weeks ago and just got it back from the insurance company (salvaged) and the key was on with a dead battery. the key was on since i crashed. fully charged the battery and tried to start it but wont fire. if i hit it with starting fluid it starts and runs perfect. warms up and everthing fine. if i shut it off it wont restart?
pulled out plugs and cleaned. put fresh gas in it. checked all fuses and wires. pump turns on fine.

i would start by checking you fuel lines to make sure one didnt get ripped off in the crash, or kinked or something.. then check your injectors with a stethescope or something to see if they are firing... sounds like a small fuel issue to me, especially since your pump is priming, but still no start without starter fluid. after that check that tip over sensor thing, i dont know much about it, but possible... is your bike throwing a MIL code?

im thinking the injectors arent firing when you hit the starter button.
Looking at an F4i setup, there is an Engine Stop Relay right between the back of the headlights. It's separate from the tilt switch. I'm wondering if that would have anything to do with it.
EDIT
I'm acquiring a 929RR manual right now, to get a better idea.

the engine stop relay is right next to the tilt sensor. Mightwanna see if that has anything to do with it.

started it with starting fluid and let it warm up all the way and could get it to restart if I bumped the starter button. holding it down it seemed to not start. once it got cold it wouldnt start.

RE: wont start w/o starting fluid
it might be a chore, but looking at some wiring diagrams, try switching the starter relay, the one with the 30 amp fuse in it. Like I said before, it seems like its not getting fuel when you hit that starter button. The only part of the 'system' that starting an power for fuel are close are in that relay box. Maybe the drop knocked something around inside and when the relay is closing its loosing power to the ECM to drive the injectors.
