why high idle
hi all im having an issue with my bike idle, its idling at 2000. here how it goes when i start the bike it warms up than drops to the normal 1500 i blip the throttle and it jumps to 2000 and stays there same at red lights and stop signs. here is what i did so far i replaced the air filter checked and lubed the throttle cables replaced the iacv checked all vacume lines and throttle body. my bike is a 07 cbr600rr with 9000 miles and never been down and maintenance done on time. any help would be great thanx.
on the 07 they started using the iacv that automatically adjusts the idle so there is no adjust **** i checked all the lines to see if unplugged or cracked but they all look good im gonna check again today its just so frustrating.
i have the service manual and the 07 and up are non adjustable idle its controlled by the idle air control valve. im thinking i got a defective part imma send it back and replace it with a new one and we will see what happens. thanx
I found a solution to this.
1) Start the bike but DO NOT touch the throttle. Let it run up to the temperature when the fan kicks in
2) Get on the bike and lift the kickstand up. Engage first and slowly let out the clutch until it bites. Do this a few times. Again do not touch the throttle
3) blip the throttle and see if it comes back to idle. Ride away!!
Before I tried this, mine was running at 2000rpm all the time. With the method above it started up at 2000rpm and then from about 40 degrees onwards it dropped down to about 1500rpm
