Default RE: when to change oil

when you get a new bike you should change the oil frequently as there will be alot of metals in the oil.
after breakin it should be between 3K-5K on the street

Default RE: when to change oil

ORIGINAL: fast4i

how would one inspect oil anyways at 4k? by looking at the sight glass to see if its dark or dirty???...lol i say just change it.
Looking at it only tells you so much. telling you what the state of the oil is at isn't one of them. It's impossible to know just by looking at it. the only way you'll KNOW is to have it tested.

JSIOT, most conventional oils last between 2000 and 3500 regualr miles. if you're screaming through canyons often or track riding the bike, it's going to break down much faster and will require more frequent changes. synthetics will nearly always last much longer under the same conditions.
