If u do have a ticking noise and believe it is the cct and dont get it fixed right away whats the worst possible scenario???

the ticking gets louder.
do a search on the cctl issues here and on other boards.
it's a debate whether the cctl is rattling or the cam chain is rattling.
if it's the cam chain, then it could mess things up real bad...if cctl, as long as it's still putting tension on the cam chain, you're good...but whichever one it is, it's debatable.

if it's the cctl not putting enough tension on the cam chain, why does the sound disappear when the cctl is modded slightly so that the tip no longer vibrates? so is the sound coming from the tip of the cctl or the cam chain then?

 

May sound bad as I am on top of all other maintenance, but I have let this go for 4 years (CCT rattle) and so far no failures have happened and it runs smooth otherwise.

chris...either do the cctl mod...or get a louder exhaust. slight ticking i can take, but the hardcore vibrations i've heard of other bikes...IMO...that's what D&Ds were made for...to hide those noises.

 

What's the disorder like hypochondria for Motorcycles? I may have to put a stethescope on mine to see if I hear a tick over my exhaust, just to find out what you guys are talking about.

 

yea some people are very sensitive to noises and vibrations...but on a bike...you're going to have both and lots of it.
as far as the cctl noise...if you have issues with it...you'll know...cause it sounds like A$$, absolute A$$...for ones that are rattling beyond belief...but otherwise, it's not really noticeable.
