Default What kind of liquid gasket for oil pan?

I used RTV Red for the stator cover and there is a very light seepage - nothing I'm really concerned about. Anything stronger/better when I replace the oil pan? When I took the old one off there was some black stuff used (yeah, I'm really THAT specific) and it stuck like freaking glue when I tried to get it off.

sweet - I'll make a run to the store then and check it out. This wasn't something I wanted to have to do again because I had a leak. I haven't put my fairings on in 3 weeks because stupid things keep happening.

I used RVT to "reinforce" one of my float bowl gaskets that was kindof flakey, and it ended up getting into the bowl and clogging a jet. Be careful how you do it, I guess.

Any reason to use a liquid gasket instead of a normal one? I've got a minor oil leak and already have replacement gaskets. But if there's a good reason to use a liquid one, I'll do that instead

Not sure about that - I did some searching to figure out if I had a gasket or a liquid one. I think some years are different. When I pryed off the old one they used the black rtv (looked like it anyway). We'll see if it works.

On my old K series beemer, had to replace the gasket at the front of the motor + the oil pan. I was told that one of the gaskets I needed would take a couple of weeks on back order.
No good to me as I need the bike to get to work, guy at the beemer workshop recommended a liquid gasket called Hylomer, it uses pressure to seal, will not set, so if any does get into the system, its not going to be solid chunks.
This stuff worked really well, no oil leaks what so ever. It's a British product, don't know if you can get it there.
