Just wondering what type of antifreeze I need? It appeared to have regular conventional green antifreeze in it whenever I drained it. Just wondering what I need.

 

Go to your local honda delaer and pick up the Honda coolant. Stuff like prestone sucks *** hardcore. The Honda stuff has special lube in it for the water pump and aluminum block/heads. The other stuff will corrode aluminum over time.

 

where are you located. if you are not facing freezing temps, you could use Water Wetter. or you can try Engine Ice.

 

I was at my dealer last week and they told me to just stop at a auto parts store and get Prestone, Peak or anyother name brand. That does not have silcate (SP) in it. So I did. I happened to put in Prestone. They only have the Honda stuff at my local dealer in bulk. Oh, I have used Prestone in my '62 Corvette since 1972 (alum. radiator) no problems yet.

 

I'll have to have some antifreeze for the winter. I am in WV. It stays in the 30's all winter. Sometime dropping to single digits.

That's what I was trying to remember. Just read an article a few weeks ago and they said stuff w/ the silicate is bad news after time.
