Default Warning, cheap "OEM replacement" parts on ebay

I bought a set of brake and clutch levers from a Taiwanese company, "3bbbmotors" on ebay. I thought it would look cool with black levers.

The brake lever on a CBR600 is a two piece part, it has a little spring to take up the slack for the position adjuster. Well this lever has an inferior design which made the two parts push away from each other and increase the friction in the joint. The result was that the brake didn't release properly, causing the brake to overheat.

Look out for these cheap "OEM replacement" type parts, this one was obviously crap. Others may be OK but don't take any chanses on brake parts.

I'm sure there are other sellers that have the same parts.

I dont know if your interested, but a couple members seem to be having good luck with the pazzo style immitation levers. I decided to give them a try myself, just waiting on delivery.https://cbrforum.com/forum/f4i-main-forum-11/ebay-pazzo-style-lever-review-112187/

Mike, That looks identical to the lever I'm using. Mine was aftermarket, came from Parts Unlimited through a different Ebay seller.

Mine returns normally when released. How was the lever was keeping your master cylinder from returning to the normal position?

The spring that preloads the position adjuster was forcing the two parts apart in the axial direction. Easier to understand with a pic. You can see it in the middle pic, it's too wide at the pivot. To the left you can see how the paint has grinded away. It must be some freeplay at the pivot, it might work for a while with lots of grease, but doesn't solve the problem. On an original Honda lever, the center bushing goes all the way through the two parts, and the pivot bolt mount will press on the bushing, leaving some freeplay for the lever.
