Default Ultrasonic Cleaner Question

Today I purchased an ultrasonic cleaner from HF. Among other things, I want to run a spare set of carbs through it.
Has anybody come up with a good cleaning solution mixture for something like this? I read of recommendations of 1 part water, 1 part degreaser and 1 part white vinegar but I wanted to get input on what others may have tried.

I have and use the 2 liter or quart model from HF as well. I usually just use hot soapy water, or sometimes I'll fill the tank with water and then put the part in a plastic bowl filled with kerosene and place it in the middle of the tank.

One thing to keep in mind. Don't just dump the solution out of the tank. The top edge of unit is not sealed and anything you poor out of it is going to leak through the crevice between the tank and plastic body. Then you're just asking for corrosion inside the unit. I use a piece of fuel line to siphon the fluid (whatever it is) out of the tank, then wipe with a towel.

Thank you sir. That is the model I bought. I have a lot of krud kutter I can use so I may try that using the scenario you used kerosene.
Do you think sealing the crevice with flexible caulking would be a good idea? I haven't taken it out of the box yet but I'm excited to see the results.

Every time I see your avatar, I want to take your stapler... lol.

If you seal it with some type of caulking, you're not going to know for sure if it's leaking inside it or not. I think the best preventative is to not give it the opportunity to get in there in the first place. Just my thoughts...

The HF unit I'm sure is not on par with the more expensive units that run hundreds of dollars, but it does an adequate job. I've tested it wih foil and it will punch holes in it so be careful about putting in delicate things.

:-) I love Milton. I guess we all feel like him now and then.

I gave the cleaner it's maiden run last night. I am very happy with the results. The only thing it didn't totally get off was some gasket sealing gunk that somebody put on the carb bowls. It probably would have gotten it off with enough cycles. It loosened it up so that it came off with minimal effort. Everything looks brand new.
I'm not sure why the manufacturer decided an 8 minute cycle was enough. I would like for it to be longer. But other than that and the design flaw you mentioned, I'm totally happy with it.
