Trouble with Fuel System. please help!
BTW: I am new to working on bikes. My mechanic knowledge is pretty pathetic right now.
My 2000 cbr f4 is stalling. I think it is an issue with the fuel system. Please bare with the following back-story, I figure it might help with diagnosing the issue.
My bike was in the shop for a while (wrecked). once I got it back I rode it for about 4 hours straight...it ran perfectly. But only a few days later, it started dying after riding for about 15 min. The rpms dropped really low and then it stalls. Now, it will start and idle, but as soon as I open the throttle (even a little bit) it dies, or responds very slowly.
I am fairly certain it is not a carb issue because the carbs were cleaned and synced before I got it back from the shop.
I have researched and found other folks were having the same problem. But I dont know the cause.
It seems to me that either my fuel pump or fuel filter is bad. I just bought new fuel pump, but have not installed it yet (thats another thing I need to learn to do). As far as the fuel filter...where the heck is it located on the bike and how do I replace it? I see a filter between the tank and pump, but I gather that is not the filter I need to replace. But I dont know.
Any help and advice is greatly appreciated!! I could be wrong assuming it's the pump or filter. So any help is welcome! Thank you!
