cold weather makes a huge difference. You can see this evidence by looking at the right side of my bike right now. [:@]
I think you're just experiencing a combination of the fact that when you got the bike it was warmer so your tires were stickier as was the pavement, but you were a slower rider. Now the temp is colder so your tires aren't quite as sticky and you are probably pushing a little harder and faster.
Your tires are probably fine, but if you are uncomfortable with them you should go get new ones. Having confidence that the traction is going to be there is well worth the $250 or so that you'll spend for new tires.
