Default Re-gripping

I just finished re-gripping my handlebars.

I just re-gripped my golf clubs two days a go and got thinking. To build up golf clubs they rap the shaft with masking tape.

I rapped each handlebar 4 times with an overlapping rap. They feel mush better now.
I have larger hands and they would cramp up on long trips because of the small diameter of the grips. I have searched for larger grips and could not find anything that I liked. I wanted to pass this info on to those that want to add girth to their grips.

Yesterday I took a 271 mile ride only stopping once for fuel and a drink. My hands never cramped up and I also noticed that the numbness in my hands was also gone.
The next time I regrip I may go with 5 raps instead of the 4.

Sorry but I donĀ“t quite understand. Is the masking tape underneath the handles?
The handles looks comfy, what brand?

rhino, I rap the tape on the bare handlebar before I install the grip.
I use PROGRIP GEL TOUCH grips. I have found them to be the most touring friendly grip so far. I had to build them up with the tape and they stretch on quite well.

EDIT ADD: I will admit that they wear out faster than other grips but they are well worth the effort.

Anouther Idea that I have used as I have a large hand XXL Glove I use double sided tape ( Carpet strength ) and tip petrol over it, it then goes like juice and then I slip the grip on making it feel spongy, if you dont like that idea then use the black foam that covers hot water pipe or airconditioning pipes, this will slip over the existing grip giving you atleast another 10 mm diamter to the grip
