The stock tires in 1992 were Michelin A59x/M59X in a 120/60-17 front and a 160/60-17 rear, the widest you can run on your 4.5" rear rim is a 170/60-17 and still have it handle properly. If you run the bigger size you might need to remove the rear hugger that came with the bike stock ( the silver plastic shroud which is attached to the swingarm)

One thing to keep in mind, the factory (Honda) spent lots of money on each bike testing and finding out what size tire would perform best on each bike. I had a wider tire on my bike and just put the stock size back on. It handles and turns so much better. I do like the look of the wider tire, but it's not worth loosing the handiling over the looks.

well i figured if i find the biggest i can go and the stock tire i can go in the middle and still salvage some good looks along with maintaining some handling. Would i have to cut off that rear hugger? and would that effect anything? im not really looking to customize this bike a lot, maybe some small things but i dont plan on keeping this bike for a long time, i would like to move up to a newer 600 or 750 within the next 2-3 seasons. what are some small mods i can do to it?
