Demon thanks for the info.

Ditch hopefully your not there to often and ya I was wondering about that. So it will help with street panic and just in general bad situations then. How?

And has anyone ever been to a Sport Bike Track Time clinic before? Or for that matter know anything about the organization?

I dont know how they do things in your neck of the woods but down here Roger Lyle's Motorcycle Xcitement you can just come and watch. It dont cost nothing to get in and watch. And at lunch time there is a street ride for 2 laps which is, people that show up just to watch can go out on the track, supervised of course, as long as they have pants gloves helmet and jacket. Its his way of "fishing". If you actually go and watch, you can ask questions, go to the riders meeting, talk to the instructors etc., which will give you more insite to how a track day works then asking here. There is plenty of friendly, helpful people at track days. Just go, do it. Thats the biggest hurdle, making the decision to go. Then everything falls into place.

IMO, track riding and increasing your speed trains your brain to react differently when you get into a situation where your nervous system will try to freeze up your body. I've had three cars pull out in front of me to turn left and I've avoided all three collisions, which I attribute to tracking riding.

How many parking lot emergency braking exercised from what, 35mph? can you stand? On the track you get to haul your bike down from 100++ speeds over and over again while having fun!

Ok while I feel like this thread ended up 180 from ware we started Id still like to say thanks to all of you. Thank you for all your input. That being said I went down to an event identical (except the date) to the one I plan to attend in September and wow what an eye opener and I only spectated. They were super nice and went so far as to encourage me to sit in on the classroom side of things and watch the track laps. So even though all I could do is watch I saw things I was doing wrong. Defiantly plan to go back and participate. Thanks for for the info as I did end up going the night before and camping then watching and it didn't cost anything but my time fuel food ok it was super cheep.

Threads evolve....

And it's your thread.

Just to add, my new 2CT feel really good. We will see how long they hold up for.

I believe one of the most important things you learn at a trackday is, you learn your limits and the bikes limits. And if you do mess up at the track there's almost nothing to crash into. Lots of run off. For example, if you were street riding threw twisty country roads today, and suddenly came upon a deer carcass laying in your lane. A new rider would stiffen up, stare at the deer, probably nail the rear brake, and head straight off the road into the guardrail, trees, ditch, or over a hill, after hitting the deer. An experienced trackday rider and/or former racer, would stand the bike up, grab a load of front brake, look were he wants to go, and litterly swerve right around it like its not even there, almost dragging a knee in the process. Thats what I believe exploring your limits at the track does. Plus how often do you get to hang out and ride with 100 other people all in the same frame of mind.
