throttle cables, and cooling
so i have 2 questions, first off i think my throttle cables are sticking. is the throttle supposed to return to normal position immediately after you release? mine seem to be a little pokey. also, does anyone know if there is a cooling cut off that disables the bike from running once it has been hot? my bike cut out yesterday and would not start again. today it started fine and ran until it was hot, then it would not start again. thx in advance.
Yes the throttle is supposed to snap back when the bars are in any direction. just had to replace mine... they were pinched by the seat. cant help with the cooling system. go to bikebandit.com for your cables
When it gets hot, it either isn't getting fuel or there's no spark. Heat can affect the wiring connections, fuel pump, spark unit, or possible the pulse generator. If it was mine, I would run it around the neighborhood until it got hot and died. Then I would unscrew a spark plug and see if it's firing or wet with gas. It will probably be wet and you will have to troubleshoot the ignition. I would start with all the safety switchs first (clutch, side stand, etc.)
ok, so if its getting hot, shouldn't i be concerned with why it is getting hot as opposed to what the heat is affecting? and what things could be causing the bike to overheat? the fan does run when it heats up.
well, it doesn't reach the red mark on the H side. but that is hotter than it normally runs. normally it would be 25% up the gauge, but now its getting like 75-80% up. if thats not considered overheating, what can i do to keep it cooler, or what can i do to the possibly affected parts of the bike to prevent the heat from affecting them?
