These fu**ing carbs won't come off. HELP!!
God i'm so frustrated. God a service manual, 3 websites that show step by step carb removal on my bike - CBR F4 - but they won't come off.
The carbs sit on these rubber "insulators", the insulators have clamps that you loosen then just yank upwards using rocking motion. I yank. Then i wipe the sweat from my brow and yank some more. I literally pick up the front wheel and the corbs are solid on there. They wiggle a little but dont budge.
Only thing i could see is the insulators are held in place with 2 bands. 1 Band is accessible using a long *** screwdriver thru the hold in the frame. The other band is totally not accessible. DO I HAVE TO LOOSEN BOTH?
Olso the "insulator" feels very dry to me, its hard. Should i try squirting some WD-40 under it or something. Pull harder?
you guys give me a heads up please, i dont know what else to do. Maybe the rubber just dried up and shrunk now its on there really tight. If i can't remove by pulling what would you guys do? try to cut the rubber?
Thanx for your help.

First of all those things aren't insulators, they are boots which couple the carbs to the intake of your engine. The only clamps I loosen are the one's you mention through the hole in the frame. Use a flashlight to make sure you are actually loosening those 4 clamps, they are hard to see and maybe you aren't getting on them very well. If this is the first time getting them off your bike it will be a tough go as you are experiencing. The rubber has hardened and they will be an absolute *****. It would be easier if they were warm (ie run your bike then try) but that's probably a real pain at this point. If you are lifting your bike trying to pull them you're going to damage something for sure. Rocking them is the way to go, if they don't come then the clamps must still be tight. They are phillips head (what else) and will get rounded out if you're not engaging properly. If they are screwed I guess you got a problem. See if you can get on the upper one's but they will be pretty tough to get at. I have 2 sets of carbs, the one on the bike is easy to get on and off the other set is a *****. The other's boots are old and hardened. When you get the carbs off go treat yourself to some new boots, it's save you alot of cursing.
Like b12 said, make sure that you have loosened the clamps or you'll be in for a long day of it. Once you're positive the clamps are loose then rock'em on out. Don't use so much lifting pressure but rather lift then push down and then go side to side. Once one of the boots loosens up the rest will follow.
yea mang...and make sure you loosen all 4! then just hold on to the fuel rail and push back and forth towards the front of bike then rear of bike and it will come off. i had a killer time too but just take your time.
