Tapping sound at 4k rpm's???
Well all of a sudden i start hearing it pretty good, it only happens at 4k rpms at cruising throttle and decelerating. When you rev it you can hear it to. Its a 02 f4i with about 7k miles on it im just hoping its not a valve or anything major
Those ticks and taps are almost impossible to even guess at without being there. If it's a noise that you know for certain isn't right, take that sucker apart and start looking around or, if ya got $$$, take it to the dealership. Could be as simple as the header bolts loosened up a little or maybe the valves need adjusting.
Yeah well it just started happening so i know its not normal. I dont think its any kind of bolts cause like i said it only happens at a certain rpm and if a give it a lil more throttle it goes away. I know its almost impossible to diagnose a noise over the internet but i was just hopin to get the things narrowed down
Cam chain tensioner would be the first thing I look at. They are the achilles heel for Honda's 600s. Followed by checking valve clearance and checking torque on all valve train and head bolts.
Yeah i read that here before. So is there a way to check the tensioner to see if its bad or not? Sorry if these are simple things but im a newbie to bikes but do have mechanical skill
You said it only happens mostly with decelerating, deffy check the CCT, the old one has a black dot on it, while the new one is red or blue I think. I don't believe it can hurt the bike, it's just annoying. I have it on my F4, its notorious. Just do a google for it. It will sound like bb's clanging in a soda can.
