Default Tach stopped working?!? Any idea why?

Yesterday night, I though after my crappy day at work I'd go take the ol' F3 to the gas station for some of that 2.67 premium, started great, ran ok, but the stupid tach didnt come up. The headlight was also a little dim, but I know its charging, and has a charged batt. so what gives? any ideas from all you motorcycle gurus to help out a noob? Thanks!

Sounds like you got a bad ground. also check the stator and regulator. I know that if they arent working properly sometimes there wont be enough power to run the guages. when my regulator went out my guages would flicker and when i full throttled sometimes they would go out and back on.
