Default sync carbs

i sync my carbs last year. no problem..this time around i had to split my carbs to replace a o ring.so i wanted to re sync. now i cant get a steady reading on my gauges. they are all over the place. bike starts fine, choke on choke off works fine. i have check the carb boots for cracks. look o.k. i cant figure out why my gauges are not giving me a steady reading. any ideas?..i did replace the head gasket and all the vavles are in spec.

Stupid question: Are you balancing at a high idle, like 2k? I heard that if you try to balance at idle that you'll get bounce.
