Swing arm removal
Hi guys, I have a 2012 600rr. I am going to get the swing arm powder coated but, I am wondering if I need a special tool to remove it? Also could anyone tell me key steps I should follow in removal? Thanks!
no specialty tools required. although you will have to go to harbor freight or somewhere of equivalence to buy the right sized allen socket for the pivot bolt. you could make one out of a couple of nuts on a bolt from ace. there are write-up threads all over the place. essentially, they're all the same for the 600rr.
oh, and i assume you have some sort of jack stands to keep the bike in the air

I literally just got done swapping my extended swingarm back to stock and it wasnt bad at all. The worst part was getting the wheel back on the bike. I had the worst time getting the rear brake to fit in there. I made the tool that conrice was talking about instead of buying the hex key socket. For my 929 I just grabbed a bolt with a 24mm head(not sure what yours is) and two nuts that fit the threads. Borrowed my buddies welder, butchered it, but it held up and I was able to remove the swingarm. Cost me like 4 bucks to make the tool.
If I saw this earlier though I may have just bought it
