I just got my cbr and I love it, its an amazing bike, 2002, f4i, 15k miles. But there is something that is worrying me. So at around 6,000 rpms usually from 2-3rd for a short amount of time, I hear a strange noise coming from the front of my bike maybe? sounds like grinding whiny metally noise, I know people described CCT issues with bb sounds. But this sounds more whiny, usually up shifting makes the noise go away, but it is around 6000 to 7000 rpms when it happens.
It does not happen at higher speeds, higher gear, but maybe its because the wind will not allow me to hear it. It kind of sounds like a metal rake scraping against cement, just not as loud.
Your front brake might be dragging slightly, kinda like a squeaking car brake, might not hear it until a certain speed, and not after that certain speed, check and see if it has any drag when you spin the wheel.
I will definitely check that. I hope its nothing serious. Do you have any ideas on what else it could be?? its only after i reach a certain rpm, usually shifting up and lowering the rpms makes the sound go away.
Did you adjust the brake pads and fix it. ? I have the same noise and thought of both of those things,
but a wheel bearing on a Honda going out before 180,000 miles ? Uncommon to say the least.

hey there. This is a very old, dead thread. You will get better results by starting your own new thread.
