Default STOP ME B4 I DO SOMETHING STUPID! ..

I have a CBR600rr 2005, almost new i got it.
i want it to sound better, so i read a simple way to do it is modifing the muffler, and what basically you do is cut it open, cut the central pipeline so it makes noise and welt again..

Actually i did a similra thing on some Kawasakis but im not sure about this CBR since i read also that i will have idling problems ? and i need a power comannder?.. how true is that?..

pls someone with this experince help"! b4 i do something rlly stupid .. or not really?

I do not have a 600, however, I have seen this mod where you can cut out a piece of the pipe and make it louder. From experience with most bikes, just a can or a modified muffler will not make the bike run so lean as to need a PC.

you only need a power commander if you are installing a full exhaust system. as for cutting the pipes inside the muffler, i've heard of someone doing it with the stock exhaust and it did make the bike sound better. so if you how how to do it go ahead. there is a write-up on 600rr.net i believe.

DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT DO THIS. Leave OEM parts OEM because the resale on the bike WILL DROP, I GUARANTEE YOU. If you want better sound, buy a Slip-on Silencer and KEEP YOUR OEM PARTS! You cannot get money back by selling a modified bike. It has been proven time and again. you mess with the OEM pipe, you are throwing money away.

A foolish thought young man. Buy a muffler that will give you the sound you want. Don't rat out your bike, you'll lose in the long run and as you said, this would be something stupid to do. If it's a matter of money, cool your jets and save for the new muffer.

Do it the right way and get a slip on. A hacked muffler will not sound or perform as good as a nice slip on.

When I bought my bike (93 cbr600 F2) the guy i bought it from had cut the pipedown to the bracket. The inside was gutted too. I couldn't tell you what it did for performance but it was almost like not even having the muffler there. Since I was just learning on how to ride i bought an OEM one because i didn't need any more attention on me than i already was getting.
