Default Spools

I know thatmy F4i doesnt have spool threads on it now. But what is the thing with spools? Does it make lifting the bike easier? And would tapping holes for my own spools be safe and worthwhile?

I did and haven't had any adverse issues, except when running a stock exhaust it hits. It looks like you have a nice highmount though, so you shouldn't have any problems. Just find the tutorial and folow the directions.

No reason at all to get spools.

I used to use spools all of the time, brought an F4 and it didn't have spools. I asked the same thing, thinking spools have to be more stable. My advice now is not to tap and install spools. Instead buy a swingarm stand. It works in pretty much the same way, except it has paddles that go under the swingarm (instead of hocks for the spools).

Find a sturdy one, and make sure the paddles are coated in some sort of rubberized material. I've had mine for a year and bit now and it still looks new.Very useful for chain cleaning and/or storage.

i agree with woot...some say it's faster...i think all racers and trackers use it...maybe except ones that were running F4s and F4is ...muahahahah...except woodyracing, he got tabs for spools welded on.

so basically you walk up the stand with the spool attachments, hook under spools lift bike and you're done...about 3 seconds work...

i can do my f4i in less than 5 seconds so it doesn't do much for me.

I found these on eBay for my 2000 CBR F4. I have posted the link and a pic. I just take them out when I ride and put them back in when I'm done.

Yeah, but i have a stand that can accept spools or has the padds for just putting it on the swingarm. I dont need spools really.

This just saves you from having to weld anything on or drill into the swingarm
