My 2002 CBR 954 RR speedometer work sometime or it just stays on 0. When it stays on 0 the FI and oil light come on. The bike was recently painted now the speedometer doesn't work.

 

Most likely a loose connection on the wiring between the ECU, the gauge cluster, and the speed sensor. Just a matter of checking connectors.

 

If the fairings were sprayed and then it started happening then I'd go with loose connection. There are only a few plugs associated with the speed sensor wiring so check them.


Alternatively the Honda speed sensors like the rest of Honda electrics are fragile pieces of crap and fail quite regularly, the F4i for instance is particularly prone to this. The fix is to replace the speed sensor.


Read off the FI code, it will probably say speed sensor or wiring fault but it is worth looking at it anyway.
