I have a Honda cbr 900 RR1998 and my speedometer and odometer only work like 2 min every half hour. and then the speedometer drops to 0 then works again after half an hour.
I measured the voltage coming in the speedometer the pink and black connector the one specified in the book , it measures 5 V when the bike is off or on the on position.
now when the bike is turned on and the speedometer is working , it measures around 2.5 V variable , but as soon as the speedometer stops working, the voltage goes up to 4.9 V stable until the speedo works again, the voltage goes back to a variable 2.5 V .

now my question is: does that mean that my speed sensor needs to be changed ? because I am not too sure and dont want to pay for a speed sensor for nothing I am getting 5 V at the speed sensor terminal so all the wires are ok.
