I need to know if the spark plugs require a special tool for removal. the normal 3/8 and 11/16 are too wide. i need to check my plugs and dont know how to get them out. thanks in advance.

 

18mm deep-wall socket. Put some anti-seize on the threads and don't over tighten.

The way I do it is to use the tool that came with the bike to just loosen the spark plugs
Or I also loosen them with a very short ratchet

Then, I use a piece of rubber hose to take them out.
The rubber hose slips on the spark plug and actually gets a good hold of it allowing for just enough torque to spin it out after breaking it loose with the ratchet.
I also like to use the rubber hose to gently put the plugs in place--it is better than just dropping them in their holes and hoping that the gap/s did not change any from the drop.

All you need is about 6 inches or so of rubber hose that you can get from most auto stores for less than a buck.

 

yeah, i actually used the 18mm socket, and used the air tube for a fish tank, fit right on the end of the plug so i could get them out and back it easily.
