@IDoDirt ops. yea sorry i forgot to mention it @MrB86 actually put it in to neutral and you don't even need to turn the ignition key ON. what we do is bypassing relay and circuit path and kind of connecting starter motor directly to the battery. if the starter motor is ok it should spin without problem
awesome. So both kill switch and ignition can be left off? Thanks for the patience with my seemingly idiotic questions. And happy Easter to y’all! I assume the side stand needs to be lifted? Or can that be left down too?
actually you don't need to worry about it. all you need to do is put it in to neutral and i would test it in key OFF position since we are testing only the starter motor.
if you check this diagram, what we bridge is contact point A and B. so as you see it eliminates everything and tests only the starter motor itself just like we connect our starter motor directly to a battery.

okay so I got sparks. I heard a buzzing noise briefly and that was it. Nothing started. Nothing turned (key off and kill switch off and neutral but side stand down so bike was resting on it) I tried a second time and got zero. No sparks no buzzing noise. Bleak!
hi. if your starter motor is ok it should give a good cranking sound. i would bridge it another two or three times and see if it cranks.
if it doesn't it could be the starter motor itself

tried a good few times and I’m not getting anything. Not even a spark. So it sparked the first time and thereafter nothing. Like I’m touching it with rubber kind of nothing. Not even a slight noise in terms of hearing a spark? I have loads of power to my lights. When I flash my brights the low beam slightly dims. Would a dead battery cause the lack of spark or no spark to be exact or has something possibly blown? Could it have been mistested? When I hit the killswitch to on I can hear the fuel pump so I assume there is power running through the bike or at least enough to power my lights and pump so would this not be enough to make the bypassing spark when touched together?
A big thank you to @IDoDirt and @cbrbike for all the help. Turn out it was the brushes on my starter motor. I really appreciate all the guidance and help of elimination as to why to look for. You guys rock!
@MrB86 Well, we're glad we were able to help get you back in the saddle. Enjoy the ride. Thanks for letting us know the outcome and what the resolution was. It helps others too.

youre most welcome. Yeah I figured it’s the decent thing to do as I see quite a few people seem to have the click problem. What I’ve been told is generally speaking 1 loud click is indicative of a starter motor issue or relay. Multiple clicks are indicative of a battery issue but obviously that’s not a set in stone rule as we all know anything can happen in a different way. Again thank you for the help and I look forward to being more active on the forum and hopefully learn and be able to assist.
