Default SICK F4

2000 F4 starts and idles fine the problem starts going down the road . It runs good up to about 4500 rpm then it starts cutting out almost to the point of dying. At the same time the speedo does not work then at out of the blue the speedo will start to work then the bike will run fine until I shut it off again. Any help would be great.

Sounds like a choke problem, my be sticking closed slightly until it gets shsaken loose by vibration. Check to make sure your choke cable is pushing your choke back open all the way when you get warmed up.

Would the choke have anything to do with the speedo not working at the same time?

Sounds electrical to me. I suggest pulling the plastic and start checking wires. Especially the ones going to the speedo. Pull all the connectors apart and check for corrosion. Good luck. these problems are a pain.

tighten your battery cables!! and check your grounds. does the rest of your electrical work? have you taken the bike apart recently? maybe you thought you got your upper cowl or gauge cluster connectors plugged in but they didnt click, and now they are backing out. maybe a loose ground somewhere on the body?
