This may be a dumb question, but what would cause this? The bike was fine last week. Today I started it up held the clutch to shift into first and the second i shifted the bike died. Am I just dumb? What did I do wrong, or is it the bike.

 

make sure your kickstand is up...

 

+1 on the kickstand. I did that a couple times my first few weeks.

Neh, im just playin, I have done it a few times before

Hell once I was actually setting with the bike running in nuetral and the kickstand up and I went to put my foot down and kicked it in gear, I felt like and idiot because of the strong jolt forward that I got from it.

 

if its not the kickstand check to see if the clutch switch is hooked up

the bike has a switch on the clutch so that you can't crank the bike in gear without the clutch pulled in
