Default Shake/Rattle when coming to a stop f4i..

I notice that when I'm coming to a stop my bike has a shake/rattle that seems like its coming from the forks. It only last briefly(1-2 seconds) and it is only at a specific speed(around 3-5 mph) Does anyone have any idea what this might be? Thanks in advanced

It's possible that your steering stem bearings are worn, or it's just loose. I would certainly get someone knowledgeable to look at it and make a determination. These are what I'm referring to. You'll need to be able to lift the bike front end off the ground to check it.

did you replace your brake pads recently? what is the condition of your front tire in terms of thread life and tire pressure?

check to see that everything is has been tighten down, esp the tire. Also check for damages.. like the rotor or even the brake pads. you may want to pull the brake pads for inspection... some fresh brake fluid wouldn't hurt, if it's been a while.

Thanks for the reply guys. I just checked everything you mentioned mnguyen84. Tire pressure cold was 42 rear and 31 front(little low). I did just replace the back brake pads but they seem fine. The front brake pads are a little low and do make a slight grinding noise when stopping.

IDoDirt I did recently install a stabilizer so I double checked the steering nut and it was still torqued to 76lbs but I torqued it a little more to be safe. Looks like I might just need to take it to the shop for a full inspection of the bearings.

Also took the bike for another ride trying to pin point the symptom. It seems to do it more when turning left at very low speeds (when making a uturn) Almost seems like its a vibration coming from the engine maybe. Scared it might be a clutch or tranny problem.

Thanks again

The vibration could be due to the fresh pads. in cars when u replace the pads w/o "turning" the rotors, vibration is a common effect. It usually goes away when the pads n rotors are broken in. my only worry is that something wasnt tightrn properly

Does the bike shake when u down shift to engine brake?

I dont think its the brakes (rear brake anyway) because it still does it when I use only the front. It doesnt really shake when I downshift to brake but I will say the common cct problem with my bike is rattling like crazy. I think Im going to take my bike in to have the cct replaced and also see if they can check out this symptom Im having
