Default Rough idle

Hello,

I bought a 2001 f4i with 4k miles. The owner said that it's been sitting for a few years. It has a power commander and exhaust.

When I started it up, it has a rough idle, but goes away just before 1/8 throttle.

The person I bought it from said that he had a shop look at it, and they said it just needs to be ridden.

It appears that it's running rich.

The person I bought it from said he changed the spark plugs and showed that old one with signs of it being rich, but I'm not sure if he really changed them or not, he may have just been pulling my leg.

I also noticed a starting issue. The horn worked fine along with the head lights, but it didn't want to turn over. I let it sit for maybe five minutes, then it started right up.

I'm not sure if any of these are common issues with the 2001 f4i's.
Any advice as to what direction I should go is definitely appreciated.

Take it out ride it good and hard - maybe throw some of your favorite fuel system
cleaner (seafoam is what I use) in there with fresh premium grade gas and she should
do better at idle

And if that fails, you can send the injectors off for a sonic cleaning. Motowheels offers this service for my Ducati, but I don't see why it wouldn't work for other brands as well.
