Default REVS taking there Time

Okay So after changing my gaskets on my super clean carbs and replacing petcock. She fires beautifully. The only problem is that now when I rev it. Its Takes it time to bring the revs back down even after I see throttle snaps. I heard its a "tall tale sign" that shes running lean. all the settings were the same as when she ran fine. SO i moved the clip down 1 on the needle and STill the same. Could this have to do with out of synced carbs ?

Was it idling ok before? Did you separate the carbs from the rack? Did you adjust the sync screws? Out of sync carbs can make the bike slow to return to idle. So that could also be your issue. However, they normally just don't go out of sync. Simply cleaning them should have no affect on the sync of them, but that doesn't mean the sync wasnt disturbed somehow. Im not sure how careful you were with rack while cleaning the carbs, and its possible the carbs became unsynced, but unlikely.

What were the pilot jets adjusted to? They should have been put back to where they were, usually 1.5-2 turns out from bottom. If you didn't remove them, that could be your issue as many times, debris gets pushed into the port during cleaning.

You may also want to make sure your carbs are fully seated in the boots and not leaking air. Fire it up and spray some wd40 around the boots with it running and see if it bogs at all. If it does, you have a leak. I'd suggest doing this while the bike is cold though. You don't want to do it on a hot engine. WD40s flash point is not extremely low, but it is flamable, and its always possilbe to ignite it on something hot.

yeah I did seperate the carbs and eyeballed the butterflies so Im sure its just out of sync. However with the pilot jets. I did remove them but just screwed them back in. Ive never heard of adjusting them. Did you mean Mixture screw ?

I agree with Justasquid, since raising the needles didn't help and it ran fine before, air is getting in somewhere. They are very sensitive to airbox being sealed. All the ports where you hook up sync tool plugged? Troubleshooting over the internet sucks. It's so much easier in person.

If they are out of sync, that will definately cause the idle to return very slow. Im sure thats your issue.

As for the jets, we are probably thinking of different things. the main jet is in the carb bowl. The pilot jet, often referred to as the idle mixture screw, is external. If that wasnt removed and cleaned, it could also cause some problems.

however, since you seperated the carbs, its more than likely just out of sync.
