You don't need plugs yet unless you are having serious power issues. as for the filter, BMC is your best choice. When it comes to oil, Full synthetic is the absolute best in protection. Amsoil is regarded one of the top, if not the best in the business. GN4 sucks. Now that Honda has the HP4S, i'm not sure how well that stacks up with the other full synthetics... but if GN4 is Honda's idea of good oil, then HP4S should be in line with friggin' penzoil...

to avoid any hype...do a UOA...it'll tell you exactly what your oil is using. let's not start an oil debate here...leave it to the UOA.

Here's a GN4 UOI for you... remember what Honda said about oil change interval? Yeah, just go ahead and throw that in the ******* dumpster...

great stuff...let's hear the operating environment now....
were you idling a lot? how many miles on the bike?
is this first change? second change, etc.?
doesn't really say that the oil is crap but just like you had a lot of gas/iron...from prolonged idling, break in, etc...

a rider from the group i used to ride with rides the **** out of his zx10r...thing has like 70K miles now i'd assume and he was using valvoline dino/auto 10/40 and everything worked out well except that the oil sheared a bit faster...and was recommended that he change at 2800 instead of 3500+.

Well, lesse... Typical Wisconsin weather, mid 80's most days... mostly back and forth from home to work or around town. 14 miles round trip twice a day (lunch). I do not let the bike sit and idle however i let the oil temp come up before i hit it. The bike has as many miles as the UOI says it does (which would be 4156). This oil is from the second change. first was at 600 miles to MCF, then again at around 2500 with GN4 (the tested oil). it does say that the oil is crap. look at the SUS Viscosity. it's almost a full 10 points lower than where it should be at 1700 miles! It does play a part in the SUS index however.

I've got MCF in there now, and will sample when the oil gets to 1700 - 2000 to compare.

Yes the viscosity is lower than what the average value should be but here's the kicker...
1. some fuels just run thin (like mobil 1)
2. you have a bit more fuel in the oil thinning it out...
though that shouldn't have made it drop a full 10 points...unless no. 1 is true to begin with and then added to the slight increase in fuel.

Regardless of what it 'may' have been...i'm VERY happy that i don't use GN4...thanks for posting this mang! make sure you post your next one!
think if wifey lets me i'll run one of whatever i use.

Doesn't really matter. if you have to change oil every 1500 miles using conventional oil @ $4/qt, and every 3000 miles using a high quality full synthetic @ $8/qt, it all pans out in the end. however i wont know for certain until i hit 1500-1700 miles and i toss in another oil sample.
