Rear Wheel hub loose??
okay...first i am new to this forum and already dont know how i lived without it (lol) but also i am new to my bike... its a 1997 cbr 600 f3!
anyways.... i pulled the rear wheel off so i could get my new tire put on...and was checking over it and the bearings and realized that it seems that the part where the sprocket bolts to is loose...it moves up down and side to side... i dont know if it is called the hub but i am pretty sure it is...i dont see anything i can tighten...the sprocket nuts are all tight... so basicly is their somthing that wears out in their or is it supposed to be like that??
also its not the bearing that have play its the entire hub assembly and these are stock wheels...! just a little more info on this would be greatly appreciated... THANKS GUYS AND GIRLS!

Maybe the main hub bearing has gone - there are 3 bearings in your wheel as far as I know, and the only thing that would cause your problem would be something like that.
DON'T ride it until you have it checked.
Could be worn cush drive rubbers. Check those too.

Congrats on choosing a great bike, bummer about the rear wheel though 
It does sound like it could be the Cush drive, but you really need to get it checked out ASAP.

Im guessing your hub cushions are worn. Or, its possible you just don't realize the sprocket is just kind of sitting there, its directly attached to the wheel with the bolts, those bolts attach the sprocket to the cush drive, then the cush drive simply slides into the wheel. Its held in place when you put the wheel back on. Pull it off and check the hub cushions and make sure they are not worn to bad.
Also, put sprocket back on, fully seat it and check the play. If you have play rotationally, the pads should be replaced. If you don't, its probably fine.
Look at the photos that pacemaker posted and you can see how it all goes together.

thanks guys....that was exactly the problem....well atleast its a simple fix....nothing to bad considering i only paid 600 dollars for the bike....turns out i got a killer deal on it...it was funny becassue the guy that i bought it from got irritated becasue it wouldnt keep a charge so i offered him 600 bucks he took it and i changed the rectifier on it and that was the problem...i decided o go with a upgraded model that is aluminum with cooling fins...seems to have fixed it tho

Check your stator (see other current post in this issue)
R/R often burn out because the stator/alternator/generator has melted wiring deep inside where it can't be seen.In the windings
Have the stator tested for resistance too, or you may be replacing the reg/rec again soon.............

actually that is what i originally thought it was so i replaced it...thinking it was it and it wasn't so then i bought the upgraded reg/rec that is aluminum with the cooling fins hoping it would last a little longer, after reading some of the forums i have seen that is a common occurrence...so hopefully this works out!
